Sewer Backup
If you experience a backup of your sanitary sewer, determine first if drains back up only when you run additional water into them. If so the blockage is most likely in your lateral pipe and is your responsibility to clear. If sewage has entered your home while no water was being used or continues to spill out of drains after water use is discontinued, something may have blocked the public main and the KLSWA should be contacted immediately.
Cross Connections
A cross connection is an arrangement of piping which could allow undesirable water, sewage, or chemical solutions to enter your drinking (potable) water system as a result of backflow. Cross connections with potable piping systems have resulted in numerous cases of illness and even death.
Historically, cross connections have been one of the most serious public health threats to a drinking water supply system, and many times are present in a residential water system.
Seasonal On/Off
There is a $70 charge to turn on your water and a $70 charge to turn off your water seasonally. 24 hour notice for an appointment is required. It is necessary that someone be on the premises at the time of the appointment.
When the water is turned off, the base fees will still be charged. If a service turn-on or turn-off is necessary outside of office business hours an additional $35 will be charged.
