KLSWA water fountain

As a supplier of public water to our residents, citizens and visitors, the KLSWA recognizes the importance of maintaining a clean drinking water supply to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of its current and future citizens. The source of our drinking water is groundwater which we all wish to protect from contaminations. The areas where the groundwater supplying our wells is sourced are generally known as Wellhead Protection Areas. These Wellhead Protection Areas are shown on the attached map.

KLSWA has developed a plan to identify strategies to help protect our Wellhead Protection Areas. Assisting us with this effort has been representatives from:

  • Saugatuck Township
  • City of Saugatuck
  • City of Douglas
  • Allegan County Health Department
  • Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE)
  • Saugatuck Township Fire District personnel
