About the KLSWA

The Kalamazoo Lake Sewer and Water Authority (KLSWA) is located off of Old Allegan Road on Jack Wilson Avenue in Saugatuck Township. Jack Wilson Avenue was named after a former KLSWA employee, Jack Wilson, who had a special skill of locating underground pipes and gratefully provided drawings so that the staff today has a reference. Thanks Jack!

The KLSWA’s primary purpose is to insure the proper operation of the public water system and the public sanitary sewer system. We locate the watermains and sewer pipes prior to construction activities to prevent damage and loss of service. Daily we monitor the public water wells and their chemical feed rates insuring that the water is safe to drink. In doing so we collect numerous and various samples; daily, weekly, monthly and annually. We insure that the mechanical equipment is operating correctly and repair it when necessary or recommended. We respond 24/7/365 to customer emergencies related to the public water or sanitary sewer systems.

The KLSWA water system serves an estimated population of 3,300 people and the sanitary sewer system serves approximately 2,800 year round residents with an influx of population during the summer months as our communities continue to be an attractive location for day trippers, vacationers, site seeing and shopping.

All of us at the KLSWA want to provide all our customers’ good reasonable service insuring our communities continued health and growth.
